On 20 September 2025, over 150 residents from Queenstown and Mei Ling estates joined us for our Sweet Health screening event, organised in partnership with the People's Association.

- Blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings
- Health talks on chronic disease prevention
- One-on-one counselling and nutritional guidance
- Educational materials for informed health decisions
- Fresh fruit giveaways
Many people carry quiet worries about their health. Is my blood pressure too high? Should I be concerned about this? However, as life gets busy, these questions often get pushed aside.
That's precisely why we wanted to bring preventive screenings directly into the neighbourhood.

Residents waiting for their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings
Residents waiting for their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screeningsWhat we observed: Approximately 30% of the residents we screened had elevated readings. Many were unaware. Some mentioned they'd been meaning to get checked "when they had time." Seeing their reactions when we explained what the numbers meant reminded us why these screenings matter.
What residents shared with us: Several participants mentioned they appreciated that the screening didn't feel clinical or intimidating. The fresh fruit, the conversations, the presence of volunteers who knew their neighbours—these elements made asking health questions feel less daunting. One resident shared that she'd been postponing her blood sugar check for months because "going to the clinic felt like such a big undertaking." This format, however, felt manageable.
This feedback reinforces why partnerships with local organisations are valuable. When healthcare happens in familiar spaces with familiar faces, people feel comfortable participating. And when people participate, we can provide the support they need.
We're grateful to Mr Eric Chua, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC, who joined us and encouraged residents to prioritise early detection. We also extend our appreciation to the grassroots volunteers who made the morning possible.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who spent their Saturday morning with us.
